“Sounds great, raw, as an escape through a field of metal trash cans!”

Polansky versus Langman is the musical project of two Prague musicians. We make the music with viola and drums only, using loops and vocals. Despite the pared back instrumentation, we do have a true rock band sound. 

The project Polansky versus Langman started as a tribute to Lou Reed after his death in 2013. Two years later in May 2015 they released their first album conTRACKtion with 9 covers of Lou Reed songs. The music critic for the national paper Czech Republic wrote: „It is smart and inspiring. The duo fools around with the original songs, turns them upside down, makes up new variations and adds improvised parts. The album goes from nervous gradations to melodic melancholies. The duo cuddles up with the original songs and yet at the same time crudely deconstructs them. Most of the time the music is more original and more interesting than other so called original creations.” Besides our own CD ConTRACKtion, we participated in a tribute album dedicated to Filip Topol, the legendary Czech musician.

In October 2019 we released our new album called U8. Nine stories from Berlin through the eyes of Andrej Polansky and his friends. The U8 project was conceived as a collaboration of a Czech photographer living in Berlin, a German graphic artist with Czech roots living in Ulm and a duo Polansky versus Langman. The first responses to the album are favorable. Come and judge it for yourself :-)
